Perodua ‘I Love Malaysia’ promotion – cash rebates up to RM1.5k for Ativa, up to RM3k for Aruz; until Sept 30

As the month of September is when the nation celebrates Malaysia Day, Perodua celebrates by offering its ‘I Love Malaysia’ promotion for the Ativa and Aruz throughout the month, until September 30, 2024.
Customers who trade in their existing vehicle with Perodua Pre-Owned Vehicles (POV) can enjoy cash rebates of up to RM1,500 for their purchase of an Ativa, or cash rebates of up to RM3,000 for their purchase of an Aruz. Bookings for vehicles purchased on trade-in are to be made at authorised Perodua showrooms.
This promotion for the month of September essentially extends the promotion for the Ativa and Aruz that was run from August, when rebates of similar sums were offered. If you were planning to take advantage of the offers but missed out last month, here’s your chance.
The Ativa is currently the sole Perodua model offered with a turbocharged powerplant, featuring a 1.0 litre turbocharged three-cylinder producing 98 PS and 140 Nm of torque driving the front wheels through a D-CVT transmission. The Ativa starts from RM62,500 for the X variant, ranging up to RM73,400 for the AV variant with the black roof finish.
The Aruz is the brand’s raised seven-seater MPV, offering a 220 mm ground clearance that is 60 mm more than that offered by the lower-riding Alza, which also seats seven. The Aruz gets the naturally aspirated 1.5 litre 2NR-VE four-cylinder petrol, which makes 102 PS at 6,000 rpm and 133 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm. Drive goes to the rear wheels vi..

Proton eMas 7 EV debuts at Merdeka parade

As promised, the Proton eMas 7 (stylised as e.MAS 7) made its public debut during the National Day parade on Saturday, August 31 as part of a 25-car contingent. The presence of the national carmaker’s first electric vehicle, first previewed to the media early last month, gave those present a good first look at the car ahead of its launch at the end of the year.
The eMas 7’s design, shared with its Geely Galaxy E5 twin, was covered by a specially-designed camouflage bearing the colours of the Jalur Gemilang, as well as various greetings from around the world – again hinting at Proton’s possible global aspirations.
“Seeing the e.MAS 7 in action was a moment of national pride, showcasing our commitment to building a greener mobility for Malaysia,” said Pro-Net CEO Zhang Qiang. “This debut not only highlights our dedication to innovation excellence but also reinforces the connection between our brand and the Malaysian people, making it an indelible milestone in our journey toward an electric future.”

2025 Proton X70 facelift launched in Sabah, Sarawak – RM2k more in East Msia, parts availability assured

Proton has launched the 2025 Proton X70 facelift in East Malaysia, two weeks after the C-segment SUV’s debut in the west. Prices in Sabah and Sarawak are RM2,000 higher than the RRP in Peninsular Malaysia, which means it’s RM100,800 for the Standard, RM112,800 for the Executive, RM125,800 for the Premium and RM128,800 for the Premium X, on-the-road without insurance.
“We are thrilled to introduce the 2025 Proton X70 to East Malaysia, an important region with opportunities to enhance market shares. This ceremony is more than just about unveiling a new vehicle; it is about reinforcing our commitment to East Malaysia,” said Proton CEO Li Chunrong.
“The unique needs of buyers here and their strong connection to the brand have always driven us to deliver the best products and services. With its updated features and refined styling, we are hopeful the 2025 Proton X70 will drive Proton to the head of the premium SUV market in East Malaysia,” he added.

Proton says that it is offering up to RM23,500 worth of added value at no extra cost for the first 3,000 customers of the X70 facelift. This includes the RM13,700 of value from the new/improved equipment list, a RM7,000 cash rebate (for all variants), trade in support of up to RM2,800 (non-Proton vehicles get RM2,000) and a Proton Insurance Programme upgrade.
The standard warranty package is five years unlimited with six times free labour service. Buyers will also get a five-year data package of 1GB per month...

Proton eMas 7 is developed concurrently with Geely – shorter lead time for RHD model, shared dev costs

Despite its forthcoming eMas 7 (stylised as e.MAS 7) appearing almost identical to its Geely Galaxy E5 twin save for the badging (at least from the outside), Proton insists that its first electric vehicle is not a simple rebadge of that car but was instead developed concurrently. The national carmaker maintained this assertion in its press release announcing that the SUV is joining the National Day parade.
The company’s CEO Li Chunrong said that developing the car at the same time as the Geely version – a Proton first – simplified the right-hand drive conversion, with manifold benefits in terms of efficiency and cost reduction. “The eMas 7 is not only Proton’s first EV, but it is also the first Proton model developed concurrently with the team at Geely. This allows for much shorter lead times in making RHD versions available and also results in greater efficiencies and sharing of development costs.
“The ultimate proof of success for this undertaking will be the reception of buyers in Malaysia and our export markets and to ensure a favourable outcome, Proton is leaving no stone unturned in the model’s development, marketing, sales, and after-sales efforts,” he said.

During the media preview of the car earlier this month, Proton claimed it sent 230 engineers and designers to China to be involved in the development of the Galaxy E5 and eMas 7 right from their inception. The cars have racked up a total of 700,000 man hours and 10 m..

Proton eMas 7 to make public debut at Merdeka Day parade – first EV to be part of 25-car contingent

Earlier this month, Proton previewed its first electric vehicle, the eMas 7 (stylised as e.MAS 7), developed concurrently with the Geely Galaxy E5 twin. Now it’s been announced that the SUV will make its first public appearance during the National Day parade on August 31 ahead of its launch at the end of the year.
As part of the celebrations, the pre-production prototype will be sporting special camouflage – still plastered front-to-back with greetings in several languages (hinting at the car’s possible global aspirations), but with the Jalur Gemilang colours of red, blue, yellow and white, rather than the gradated blue to dark grey as seen during the media preview.
“While celebrating our past, Proton is also mindful to look ahead into the future of the automotive industry,” said CEO Li Chunrong. “Hence, we took the decision to include the Proton eMas 7 in our parade lineup, though it has not been launched, to allow everyone to get a closer look at the company’s first EV model. As the model is not the final production vehicle, it will be displayed wearing camouflage, but in the National Day spirit, we have chosen colours that represent Malaysia’s flag.”

The parade will also include the original Saga and the newly-facelifted 2025 X70The eMas 7 will form part of a 25-car contingent showing the national carmaker’s progress over its 41-year history, taking a break from its usual (and very public) durability, charging, driving..

Proton expanding in Trinidad and Tobago – 261 units of X50, X90 exported to the Caribbean nation in 2024

Did you know that Proton cars are sold in Trinidad and Tobago? The Malaysian company has been partners with ANSA Motors Limited in the Caribbean nation since March this year, and 261 units of the X50 and X90 have been exported to T&T so far this year – that’s 101% of Proton’s target volume, bringing the total number of Proton vehicles shipped there to 366 units.
The X50 and X90 SUVs were launched in T&T in March, and as local demand grew, ANSA Motors decided to up the ante with an increased target to sell 300 units this year. The company was picked by Proton on the back of an impressive record and strong automotive background.
According to Tg Malim, despite its small population of only 1.5 million, T&T’s automotive industry mirrors that of more developed countries, with carbuyers increasingly gravitating towards “bells and whistles” and electrified models. “As there is more wealth creation in that part of the world, luxury vehicles are growing more desirable and the emergence of new and exciting brands such as Proton is finding unprecedented acceptance,” the carmaker said.

With over 25 subsidiaries across the Caribbean, the ANSA McAL Group of Companies is one of T&T’s largest conglomerates. Founded in 1919, its subsidiary ANSA Motors has been a ‘pioneering force’ in the automotive industry. The 105-year old company was the first Ford dealer in the Caribbean and has played a pivotal role in the automobile industry, making it a s..
