2025 Proton X70 facelift launched – same price, bigger screen, AACP, from RM99k, RM7k early bird discount!

We showed you the 2025 Proton X70 facelift earlier this month in full, but Proton kept one important element for the launch – the price. Now that the refreshed SUV is officially launched, we can reveal that the X70 has the same price as before.
Price was the X70’s original calling card, and in the face of competition (Chery has entered the chat), Proton has decided to maintain RRPs for its C-segment SUV despite offering more/improved kit. The X70 facelift is available in four variants – Standard, Executive, Premium and Premium X (the latter is the Premium with a panoramic sunroof), priced at RM98,800, RM110,800, RM123,800 and RM126,800 respectively, on-the-road without insurance. By the way, Proton says that the improvements you’ll read about later are worth RM13,700.
As usual, there’s an early bird package, and this time, it’s for the first 3,000 customers. The carrot is a RM7,000 cash rebate (for all variants, bringing the entry price to just RM91,800), trade in support of up to RM2,800 (non-Proton vehicles get RM2,000) and a Proton Insurance Programme upgrade. Practically, this would mean a smaller downpaymemt. The standard warranty package is five years unlimited with six times free labour service. Buyers will also get a five-year data package of 1GB per month.
A much-needed facelift
So what’s new? First up, the most important aspect – aesthetics. The X70 has been looking a bit tired, and that’s not a knock on the Boyue-based SUV &ndash..

Proton Saga sales hit 7,855 units in July 2024, best result since Oct 2013; 42,693 units YTD, up 8.8%

Sales of the Proton Saga reached 7,855 units in July 2024, marking the best single-month achievement for the model since October 2013, the carmaker announced recently. In its release, the company also said the Saga’s year-to-date (YTD) sales from January to July currently stands at 42,693 units, which is 8.8% more than the same period in 2023.
This year marks the 39th year of continuous production for the Saga, and it all began when the first-generation model rolled off the line on July 9, 1985. Since cumulative sales of all generations of the Saga have surpassed two million units, with the milestone figure achieved in May 2024.
Proton also noted in its release that it is working closely with its partner Zhejiang Geely Holding (Geely) to explore model enhancements activities from the existing platform. The opening of a new R&D centre in China in April this year will support this initiative to upgrade homegrown models as it combines Proton’s existing in-house competencies with the resources and know-how of Geely.
With Malaysia’s National Day coming up, Proton has revealed the ‘Saga-Merdeka Easy to Own’ campaign that will run throughout the month of August. During the campaign period, the carmaker is offering a RM500 cash rebate with the purchase of any Saga model, with Maybank customers eligible for an additional RM200 – this is available for walk-in bookings made on the weekends of August 10 and 17.

Proton Atlas OS – next-gen will get BM, Mandarin, Cantonese voice control; EV features; YouTube app

Proton’s infotainment system supplier ACO Tech has previewed the next-generation version of its Atlas operating system during its fifth-anniversary celebrations yesterday. The revamped software will be offered with a slew of new features, including several that will be specific to electric vehicles.
Visually, the new Atlas OS will be differentiated through a more minimalist user interface, now with drag-and-drop customisation for the widgets. More importantly, the “Hi Proton” voice control, hitherto only available in English, will soon support Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin and even Cantonese.
Also added is an enhanced built-in navigation system with more accurate route calculation, a Waze-style map report feature for adding traffic, accident, police, speed camera and road hazard information, and AI-assisted trip planning with toll cost estimation.

The company said it is also working on numerous other features for EVs. A built-in application will provide users with one-touch access to locate the nearest charging stations, pay for charging and plan routes with charging stops included – something you can already do in the smart #1 and #3. This is important given Proton is working on its own EVs, such as the eMas 7 (stylised as e.MAS 7) that will be launched in December.
Video apps are also making their way to Atlas, including YouTube, MYTV Mana-Mana and even TikTok – presumably only functional when the vehicle is stationary. Users will also eventually ..
