2025 Proton X70 facelift fully revealed – all-new front end, unique rear bumper, bigger screen with AACP

This is it, the Proton X70 facelift. You’ve seen the first official images yesterday, and here is it in full, the first big facelift for the first Proton-Geely model, which was launched way back in December 2018. Since then, the C-segment SUV has gone CKD and received some updates, but this is a new face – do you like it?
First up, the most important aspect – aesthetics. The X70 has been looking a bit tired, and that’s not a knock on the Boyue-based SUV, it’s just ageing. Proton’s once flagship model has been on our roads for over five and a half years now with the same looks, and this is before factoring in the raft of fresh entrants in the very competitive SUV market. Some have took direct, explicit aim at the X70, and P1 has been taking the hits.
So, it’s a good thing that this facelift is a big one that really transforms the X70’s looks, so big that it’ll be a pretty costly endeavour if you try to DIY a pre-facelift car. The most obvious item is that big, bold grille; the pentagonal nose filled with Proton’s Infinite Weave design and songket diamond pins. Flanking it are full-LED reflector headlights that are much slimmer than before.

These, along with restyled front bumper, means that no one will mistake your X70 facelift from an old one. Remember the ‘susah to DIY’ part? You’ll have to get new headlamps, but note that the front fenders bonnet are also new to match the lights/grille. The shapely ho..

Perodua Merdeka promo – Ativa gets RM1,500 cash rebate, RM3,000 discount for Aruz, now till August 31

Perodua is having a ‘Semangat Kemerdekaan’ promo for the Ativa and Aruz for August 2024. The compact turbocharged SUV can be yours with a RM1,500 cash rebate, while the high-riding seven-seater MPV is being offered with a RM3,000 discount. These deals are from now till August 31.
Launched in March 2021, the Ativa is still the only Perodua with a turbocharged engine. The A-segment SUV – the first P2 to ride on the DNGA platform – is powered by a 1.0-litre downsized turbo triple with 98 PS and 140 Nm of torque from 2,400 to 4,000 rpm. It’s paired to the D-CVT gearbox that’s now a mainstay for the market leader. The Ativa is priced from RM62,500 for the base X to RM73,400 for the top AV with the black roof option.
Introduced in early 2019, the Aruz is seven-seat MPV with SUV styling and ground clearance that’s higher than most SUVs (220 mm). This is the Aruz’s biggest differentiator from P2’s other seven-seater, the Alza – that one is car-like and rides 60 mm lower. For those who want tall car visibility and peace of mind from minor flooding, the Aruz would be a good tool.
The powertrain consists of a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine with 102 PS/133 Nm, and a four-speed torque converter automatic sending drive to the rear axle. Passion Red joined the colour range in late 2021.

2025 Proton X70 facelift unveiled – redesigned exterior, updated interior with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto!

Big news today – Proton has revealed the new 2025 Proton X70 facelift, now open for booking. The hugely revamped C-segment SUV can be ordered with a booking fee of RM500 at any Proton 3S and 4S centre.
The update brings the design tweaks from the facelifted 2022 Geely Boyue, adding slimmer full-LED reflector headlights, a bolder five-point grille (with Proton’s Infinite Weave design and “songket” diamond pins), a restyled front bumper and new 19-inch alloy wheels on what looks like the top-spec Premium model.
Just like the 2022 Boyue, the X70 retains the same taillights as the old car, forgoing the revised units on the Boyue Pro/Azkarra. Rather interestingly, however, the rear bumper has been redesigned with horizontal (rather than vertical) reflectors and fake corner air outlets. This appears to be a Proton in-house designed unit and isn’t shared with any Geely model.

Inside, the X70 gains a new dashboard decor panel that again looks to be unique to the Proton, replete with a gloss black insert with multi-colour ambient lighting (coming with a “rhythmic” function that changes the colour according to the music played) and a larger “floating” 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen (the Boyue has a 10.25-inch display).
The most significant change is the addition of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, finally delivering on the national carmaker’s oft–delayedpromise. Stone Grey Nappa leather upholstery also replaces the previous brown interior of the ..

Proton eMas EV to be unveiled this Friday – rebadged Geely Galaxy E5 SUV confirmed as first model

This just in – Proton has released a teaser of its first electric vehicle, branded eMas (stylised e.MAS), which it will reveal in just three days (Friday, July 2)! This is a huge surprise, as we only expected the car to be launched in December, as per what the national carmaker has previously promised.
We’ve known that the car – tipped to be called the eMas7 or eMas E7 – will be based on the new Geely Galaxy E5 for a while now, but this image is the first time Proton has officially confirmed it. The SUV silhouette is clearly visible, but it’s the rising window line aft of the C-pillars that definitively ties it to the E5.
This means the new EV will utilise the E5’s Global Intelligent New Energy Architecture (GEA) and its tech, including a 10.25-inch digital instrument display and 15.4-inch infotainment touchscreen. The Geely version is also offered with an in-house 16-speaker, 1,000-watt Flyme Sound system (including headrest speakers), but it’s unclear if Proton’s car will have it.

Proton eMas E7 renderAlso expected to be shared with the E5 are the mechanicals. That car is offered in China with a single electric motor at the front, producing 218 PS (160 kW) and 320 Nm of torque. A choice of two lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries – 49.52 and 60.22 kWh – deliver a CLTC-rated range of 440 and 530 km respectively, although you can expect the real-world figures to be much shorter.
As for pricing, the E5 is priced between 123,00..

Proton breaks ground on new stamping lines in Tg Malim – Saga production to move from Shah Alam

Proton has broken ground on a new facility at its Tanjong Malim production site which will be home to two new stamping lines. The upcoming stamping E- and F-Line are part of the carmaker’s plans to increase its parts stamping volume as it prepares to relocate production of the Saga from Shah Alam to Tanjong Malim by 2026.
According to Proton, RM253 million is being invested into the project, which will also cater to any new models that it introduces in the near future. This is the second such planned expansion after the inauguration of the D-Line stamping plant in March last year.
The new E-Line will feature a four-stage stamping process with a 1,600-tonne stamping machine and three 800-tonne machines, while the F-Line will have a five-stage stamping process utilising a 2000-tonne, 1200-tonne and three 1000-tonne stamping force machines. Robots will be used to transfer parts between workstations, with IR 4.0 technology providing real-time data and machine learning to improve the quality of parts produced.
The new stamping lines will also help further reduce Proton’s reliance on imported parts for its models, improving local parts supply as well as insulating the company against potential disruptions to global trade.
“The addition of the parts stamping E- and F-Line are critical to Proton’s future volume expansion plans as it gives us more flexibility to ramp up our production and meet market demand. For the whole of 2023 and up to June 2024, our Ta..
