Perodua Salam Ramadan promotion – book an Axia, Aruz, get rebates up to RM2,000; valid until March 31

As the month of Ramadan approaches, Perodua is offering rebates of RM500 and RM2,000 for purchases of the Axia and Aruz, respectively during the Salam Ramadan promotion, which customers can take advantage of from now until March 31, 2024.
The rebate offered by Perodua for the Axia is applicable to selected variants only, according to the communication. The ‘D74A’-generation Axia was launched in February last year, with prices for this range starting from RM38,600 for the Axia 1.0L G, ranging through the X and SE variants, to the 1.0L AV priced at RM49,500.
Also listed within the Axia line-up is the Axia 1.0L E at RM22,000 that is actually a returning first-generation model, a base variant offering that is also the sole choice with a manual transmission. For the larger model, the Aruz, the ladder-framed SUV is on sale in two variants – the 1.5 X at RM72,900, and the 1.5 AV at RM77,900.
The offer is valid in showrooms as well as for online bookings, which can be made here. To recap, the Salam Ramadan promotion by Perodua is valid until March 31, 2024.

Perodua Aruz double-cab pick-up truck rendered – elements from Alza, Toyota Rush, T6 Ford Ranger

The Perodua Aruz serves in the national carmaker’s product line-up as its seven-seater SUV entrant, and the Ativa crossover appears set to be joined by a B-segment offering in April, codenamed the D66B, or Nexis. Its positioning above the Ativa would likely price it higher than the Aruz, which has been around since 2019, so what if the ladder-framed SUV was reinterpreted in a different bodystyle?
Visual rendering maestro Theophilus Chin has done just that, offering a rendition of the Aruz that trades passenger count for payload. Here, Theo has used what appears to be a T6-generation facelift Ford Ranger (the current ‘next-generation’ model is internally coded T6.2) as a base for the double-cab form.
The rear end of the Aruz-turned-pick-up gets the T6 Ranger treatment, albeit with differences such as in its tail lamp lenses, while the window line of the Aruz gets straightened out for this pick-up truck form. Here, we can see that the sport bar over the cargo tray from Wildtrak-spec Ranger has been adapted to the rendered Perodua, and its tailgate from the Ranger is used, albeit with simplified detailing.

With the transformation into a pick-up, Theophilus has taken the opportunity to use the front end of the Perodua Alza, in particular the headlamps and grille, along with styling elements from the Aruz’ twin, the Toyota Rush, namely the foglamp surrounds and lower intake. For added “active lifestyle” visuals, wheel arch extensions in black have been added to the Aruz ..

Perodua D66B – B-segment SUV to be launched in Malaysia by April 2024, says Kenanga Research

Perodua D66B/Nexis render by Theophilus Chin.Ah, yes, here we go again, with another “update” about when the Perodua D66B will arrive on the scene. In October last year, Kenanga Research wrote in a sector update report that the B-segment SUV, which will sit above the Ativa in the company’s product line-up, would be making its way into the market early this year.
Nearly two months in, and there hasn’t been a squeak, until now. A new research note – again from Kenanga Research – suggests a new timeframe for the model’s debut, and it’s soon enough. In a note dated February 9, the research arm of Kenanga Investment Bank mentioned that the D66B (or Nexis) as well as the Toyota Yaris Cross are anticipated to be launched by April.
The Yaris Cross mention puts some weight to the suggestion, as that essentially previews the Perodua and provides a good glimpse of what to expect with the D66B from a packaging viewpoint, but there’s no indication that the Perodua will come about on the scene at the same time. Will the automaker’s anticipated new model for the year come about by April? We’ll see.

Although nothing is still known about the D66B, the powertrains available for the Yaris Cross – which sits on the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform that also underpins the Ativa, Axia and Vios – in Indonesia and Thailand offer a view of what’s coming our way.

Perodua Alza recall – letters sent out to owners for rectification of upper front shock absorber nuts

Owners of the second-generation Perodua Alza have received letters inviting them to bring their vehicles in for a quality inspection service. According to letters shared and comments posted in the Perodua Alza D27A Malaysia Facebook group, the issue involves the Alza’s front suspension, which may require the bolts holding the shock absorbers to be tightened as they could be loose.
The rectification work will take about an hour, with all related costs being borne by Perodua. “We assure you that your vehicle is safe to drive. This courtesy quality inspection is to provide our valued customers with the highest standards of quality and care,” the sighted letter read.
This rectification of the upper front shock absorber nuts is similar to special service campaign issued for the Toyota Veloz and Vios, which we reported on previously.

New Perodua Bezza rendered again – Proton S70 rear

Ever the industrious renderer, Photoshop wizard Theophilus Chin has been at work again – this time dreaming up the forthcoming second-generation Perodua Bezza. In his own words, he has rendered the carseveral times, most recently last July using the latest Axia as a base.
This latest effort hasn’t brought much new to the table – the front half of the car has still been lifted straight from the Axia. The wheels have at least been changed to the five-split-spoke ones from the base Ativa X, which in these writer’s eyes look more aesthetically pleasing than the Axia’s multi-spokes.
But it’s the rear that has seen the biggest revision – the roofline now slopes further towards the rear, the space in the C-pillar being filled by quarter-light windows aft of the rear doors, creating a six-window graphic along the sides.

The slightly out-of-proportion rear end is also very short – great for balancing out the also-diminutive front, not so great for boot space (which isn’t exactly the Perodua way). It’s a far cry from the dumpy looks of the current Bezza.
There are no prizes for guessing where the individual elements are from – the taillights and rear number plate garnish have been lifted from the Ativa, while the rear bumper (with its black diffuser-style insert) and aforementioned side window graphic are from the Proton S70, as Chin himself alluded to.
Obviously, we still have no idea what the actual next-gen Bezza – which will be..
