The upcoming Proton eMas 7 EV (stylised as e.MAS 7) is going on a nationwide road trip. The 2,000 km coast-to-coast journey, which will be flagged off tomorrow, October 5, will cover all states in the country.
Proton says that the upcoming electric SUV is now in its final phase of testing to tailor it for the needs of Malaysian consumers. The ‘e.MAS 7 Tour’, as the road trip is officially called, builds on the Geely Galaxy E5’s 3,700 km drive from Guiyang, China to Malaysia, which you can read about here.
Baton in Proton’s hand, the Malaysian twin of Geely’s latest EV is now set to traverse local roads while sampling culinary delights, starting with Negeri Sembilan and ending in Sarawak on November 29.
The first leg on the eMAS 7 Tour will bring the EV southbound from Proton’s COE base in Shah Alam to Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor. The route is punctuated with stops at charging stations and popular eateries where the public will get an opportunity to ‘interact and foster a connection with the eMAS 7’.
“The eMAS 7 Tour is the start of an exciting journey for the brand as it brings the bold, striking design of our first EV model down to the people while highlighting the progress in technology and innovation we have made,” said Zhang Qiang, CEO of Pro-Net, Proton’s EV division that also handles smart.
“I am confident our team of dedicated engineers will accelerate the adaptation of the eMAS 7 to the unique conditions in Malaysia, highlighting Pro-Net’s commitment in building and expanding the local EV ecosystem,” he added.
The e.MAS 7 Tour will feature a traveling host, and in each state, a local public figure will join the tour to engage the rakyat at makan spots. The EV convoy will also visit Proton eMAS dealerships accompanied by digital content creators.
For those in the Klang Valley, the Proton eMas 7 will be on display at paultan.org ACE 2024 at the Setia City Convention Centre from October 26-27, and the EV’s cabin will be opened to the public for the first time at the show. Check out Proton’s first EV and its Geely twin in the gallery below.
