The Proton eMas 7 is the brand’s first battery-electric vehicle, and now the first of Proton eMas-branded showrooms has been officially opened to showcase and facilitate sales of the new addition to the carmaker’s product range.
Operated by SG Car under the Setia Gemilang group, the first Proton eMas showroom is located at the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC) in Seksyen 15 of Shah Alam, Selangor, and it is part of a centre that offers vehicle servicing and spare parts.
Operating hours for showroom and sales departments are 8am to 7pm Mondays to Saturdays, and 9am to 6pm on Sundays and public holidays. The service department operates six days a week from 8:30am to 5pm Mondays to Saturdays with lunch break from 1-2pm, and closed on Sundays and public holidays.
This showroom houses up to 14 vehicles of both internal combustion and fully electric types, and has seating for up to 30 guests in the customer lounge. The service department at SG Car is done with 13 hoists in their service bays.
“With these new facilities in place, we are confident this showroom will meet the needs of the community while contributing to the local economy by creating job opportunities in the automotive sector. It is my sincere hope that this new outlet will not only cater to the needs of our customers but also inspire a greater appreciation for the future of sustainable automotive technology,” said SG Cars dealer owner Datuk Andrew Quek.
Proton eMas electric vehicles are handled by the company’s EV division, Pro-Net, which has appointed 37 dealers nationwide, and of these, 30 outlets are expected to be fully operational by the end of this year, the company said in a statement.
For the first 3,000 Proton eMas 7 customers, the electric SUV is priced at RM105,800 for the Prime and RM119,800 for the Premium, a RM4,000 discount from regular pricing of RM109,800 and RM123,800, respectively.
The vehicle warranty is for six years, unlimited mileage, while the battery and EV parts are covered by a separate eight-year/160,000 km warranty. Keeping in mind potential concerns customers may have with the longevity of the vehicle’s battery, Proton will offer a full battery replacement if the original unit has its state of health fall below 70% within eight years or 160,000 km.
