Hot Wheels Proton Saga 1:64 diecast – white version announced for 2025 Case B box, debuts this weekend

Mattel Malaysia has announced the introduction of a new 1:64 Proton Saga scale model to its Hot Wheels die-cast collection, with the release, part of its 2025 Case B box, set to debut this weekend.
Collectors wanting to try their luck at being among the first to get the model can do so at the Hot Wheels Malaysia Case B carton unboxing event happening this October 11-13 at the LG2 Blue Concourse, Sunway Pyramid.
The new offering is the second mainline Hot Wheels Saga to come about, and features a white body colour compared to the inaugural version‘s red. However, the colour is the only difference, with previous details such as the ‘Saga’ logo graphic from the 1985 model on the rear door, the Hot Wheels logo on the front door and set of AeroDisc plastic wheels continuing to feature.

The collaboration between Hot Wheels and Proton to produce the first-generation Proton Saga as a 1:64 model was announced in December 2022 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Mattel Malaysia. The red Saga was first sold through the mainline 2024 Case B box that was distributed in October last year.
A limited edition version of the Saga also went on sale last April, featuring a blister card image designed by nine-year-old Saw Jane Harn from Penang, who won the Hot Wheels x Proton Kids Design Competition in 2023.

Proton S70 R3 racer officially unveiled ahead of entry in the 2024 Sepang 1000KM on November 22-24

Proton has officially unveiled the S70 R3 that will be competing at this year’s Sepang 1000KM (S1K) endurance race set to take place on November 22-24. This comes after the carmaker first teased the race car in May, which was when followed by a development video shared on its social media channels earlier this month.
Pictured here before its racing livery has been applied, the S70 R3 will look to add to Proton’s record number of manufacturer wins at the event, which currently stands at six. As a team, Proton R3 has secured five wins, including in 2012, 2014, 2017, 2018 and 2019.
The S70 R3 joins a long line of Proton models developed for motorsports, including those before the formation of the R3 division in 2003. These include the original Saga, Wira, Satria, Waja, Satria Neo, Preve, Suprima S, Iriz as well as the current version of the Saga.

Though the company did not provide specifications, it is understood that the S70 R3 won’t be using the 1.5 litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine found in the road car. Instead, it will be powered by the proven S4PH 1.6 litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder CamPro unit that was also used in racing versions of the Satria Neo, Preve, Suprima S, Iriz and Saga. The S4PH reportedly sends 200 hp to the front wheels through a dog box manual transmission.
According to Proton, the S70 R3 was co-developed with Geely, and the photos reveal some notable differences from the concept we saw in May. For starters, the ..

Proton S70 undergoes racetrack shakedown ahead of Sepang 1000KM endurance race next month

Ahead of its return to the Sepang 1000KM endurance race this year, Proton released some footage of its S70 R3 race car brought to life, and had started to undergo tests. Now, the carmaker has released another video, this time featuring Proton deputy CEO Roslan Abdullah explaining the S70 as the choice of entry.
This video also shows the S70 R3 undergoing its first shakedown session at the Petronas Sepang International Circuit earlier this month, and the sound of the car going along the start/finish straight indicates a naturally aspirated inline-four cylinder engine, which alludes to the 1.6 litre Campro S4PH engine.
Replacing the turbocharged three-cylinder unit in the roadgoing car, the 1.6L Campro S4PH has proven its mettle in past Proton R3 competition cars including the Satria Neo, Preve, Suprima S, Iriz and Saga, cars which have brought Proton to five Sepang 1000KM championships in 2012, 2014, 2017, 2018 and 2019.
In its later installations with the Iriz R3 and the Saga R3 which won the Sepang S1000KM in 2018 and 2019, the engine has become capable of producing up to 200 hp, and this is transmitted to the front driven wheels through a five-speed manual ‘dog box’.
The video by Proton also reveals that the S70 race car is markedly different from the liveried show car that was on display at the Malaysia Autoshow 2024. Its front lip is no longer the item as seen on the show car, now instead an item that is shaped more like those on the Iriz and Saga race cars. ..

Proton eMas 7 confirmed to share Geely Galaxy E5 powertrain – 218 PS/320 Nm, 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds

The Proton eMas 7 Tour is underway, which will see the upcoming eMas 7 EV (stylised as e.MAS 7) ultimately traverse all states in Malaysia, covering some 2,000 km. With Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor done, Proton has announced on Facebook that the tour will head north to Perak, Penang, Kedah and Perlis beginning Friday.
Crucially, the post mentions that the eMas 7 can do 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds, which is the same as the Geely Galaxy E5. This pretty much confirms that they both share the same powertrain – a single front motor producing 218 PS (160 kW) and 320 Nm of torque. The Geely offers two battery options – 49.52 kWh with a CLTC range of 440 km and 60.22 kWh with up to 530 km on a single charge.
By the way, 6.9 seconds will actually make the eMas 7 the fastest-accelerating Proton to date, way ahead of the Satria GTi‘s claimed 7.8 seconds (quite different in reality) and the X50 Flagship‘s claimed 7.9 seconds.
The Proton eMas 7, which is the right-hand-drive version of the Geely Galaxy E5, isn’t just a complete rebadge job. Proton says that it has carried out plenty of local testing and had even requested and implemented 49 additional testing processes – some of which are unique to Proton – to ensure the eMas 7 meets both local and global standards. These include tests for load performance and stability control.
